Rihanna says if dating Chris Brown is a mistake, she's OK with that.

The singer tells Rolling Stone in an interview that dating Brown makes her happy and "if it's a mistake, it's my mistake." She adds that she's ready to go public with her singer-boyfriend.

"After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it," said Rihanna.

Four years ago, Brown attacked Rihanna and was charged with a felony. But rumors about their relationship emerged after the singers collaborated on songs and appeared in photos together. On Christmas Day, they were spotted in courtside seats a Los Angeles Lakers game.

Rihanna says she knows that her history with 23-year-old Brown is "not the cutest puzzle in the world." The 24-year-old singer also vows that Brown is "disgusted" by what he did in the past.

She said that Brown can't mess up again. "That's just not an option," Rihanna explained. "I can't say that nothing else will ever go wrong. But I'm pretty solid in the knowing that he's disgusted by that. And I wouldn't have gone this far if I ever thought that was a possibility."

She says the two have matured and they "know exactly what we have now, and we don't want to lose that."

Brown, meanwhile, made headlines earlier this week after getting into a reported scuffle with R&B singer Frank Ocean outside a recording studio in Los Angeles.

The magazine's new issue hits newsstands Friday.
