Reach Your Diet, Fitness Goals -- Finally!

Millions of women want to lose weight and get in shape, but doing it is much more easily said than done.

So, for the thirdyear in a row, the nutrition and fitness experts at Self magazine have created a "Reach Your Goal plan," which is spelled out in the current issue.

Self's fitness director, Meaghan Buchan, explained the program and offered some basic advice.

The program features online tracking of participants' progress.

Self invites readers, some 300,000 of whom took part last year, to pick one of four goals and work at achieving it for a month:

  • Goal 1: Drop eight pounds this month
  • Goal 2: Walk your way fit
  • Goal 3: Tone up all over
  • Goal 4: Run without huffing and puffing

    Buchan says it's like having a personal trainer.

    Of course, eating right and exercising are key.
