As the #GreatKateWait continues, at least one member of the royal family is making his preference for a little prince or princess known.

Prince Charles has said he hopes Prince William and Kate's second child will be a baby girl.

According to British media reports, the Prince of Wales expressed his desire for a granddaughter while speaking to a 100-year-old military veteran at Windsor Castle on Thursday.

Lynda Bateman, whose father, Eric Jones, is the oldest surviving member of the Welsh Guards, said, "My father introduced me as his daughter and Prince Charles asked how many daughters he had.

"My father said 'One -- and that's enough' and Charles laughed and said 'And we're hoping for a granddaughter!"'

This is the second time the heir to Britain's throne has said he hopes his grandson, Prince George, will get a baby sister. He expressed that same desire back in September, shortly after his son and daughter-in-law announced they were expecting Royal Baby No. 2.

"I'm looking forward to it -- but I hope it will be a girl this time," he said of becoming a grandfather again.

The Duchess of Cambridge previously said she was due in mid-to-late April. It's thought now that she's at least a several days overdue.
