Police: Suspect threatened to give clerk AIDS in robbery try

WALPOLE, Mass. -- Police in southeastern Massachusetts released surveillance footage showing a suspect threatening to give a clerk AIDS during an attempted liquor store armed robbery, reports CBS Boston.

The incident occurred at the East Walpole Liquor Store shortly before 3 p.m. on Sunday, according to the station.

Police say the would-be robber told the clerk "Gimme all the money, or I'll give you AIDS." The suspect was also purported to have had a small "weapon" of some kind with a red tip in his hand, but investigators couldn't confirm what it was.

The clerk then responded by pulling a bat from behind the counter, and the suspect ran away, police told CBS Boston. No one was hurt.

Before he left, the video appears to show the suspect randomly pushing buttons on the cash register to try and open it.

On the video, the man appears to be wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with multi-colored stripes, a dark-colored bandanna over his face, dark gloves, and light-colored pants, according to the station.
