NEW YORK  — Police rescued a puppy who was hit by a truck on the George Washington Bridge, CBS New York reported

The incident happened on Sept. 9 around 3:20 p.m.

According to Port Authority Police, the 6-month-old named Ronin got free of his collar during a walk on Fort Washington Avenue in Manhattan and made his way to the upper level on the eastbound lane of the bridge.

The dog was bleeding heavily and suffered an injured right front paw and leg after getting hit by the truck.
