Police: Missing Utah woman called 911 before disappearing

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Hours before a Utah woman vanished nearly two weeks ago, she called 911 several times to report scenarios that seemingly did not occur and she was seen on surveillance video talking to herself, police say, reports the Salt Lake Tribune.

According to the paper, authorities are concerned that 30-year-old Kayelyn Louder of Murray may be suffering from a mental illness.

Louder has not had contact with her family since Sept. 27. Police say she was caught on surveillance video that day leaving her condominium barefoot in the rain. She also reportedly left behind her car, keys, wallet, cell phone and her beloved pet dog, all of which her family says is alarming.

Murray police said in a news conference on Wednesday that Louder called 911 on the night of Sept. 26 to report a fight involving guns at the clubhouse in her condo complex. Police responded to find a wedding reception underway, but nothing suspicious, reports CBS affiliate KUTV.

A short time later, police say, Louder called 911 again and hung up. When dispatchers called her back, they say she was difficult to understand and confused, according to the station.

The next day, at around 8 a.m., Louder called police to report a break-in and in the call, she is reportedly heard talking to someone and demanding they leave her home. Police believe Louder's roommate tried to calm her down and confirmed to police that there was no one else in the home.

Police responded to the call and reported no problems.

Murray Police Lt. Kenny Bass said Louder's roommate told officers that Louder had been acting in a delusional manner recently.

Police say they have also reviewed surveillance video from Louder's condo complex. At about 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 27, cameras captured Louder outside her condo having an animated conversation with someone, but police say there appears to be no one around during the conversation.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, police say Louder was "stressed" about some work-related news prior to her disappearance.

Police do not believe there is any foul play involved in Louder's disappearance and have classified her as an endangered person.

It is unclear whether Louder has any history of mental illness.

The 30-year-old is described as being white with brown hair and brown eyes. She is about 5-foot-8. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call police at 801-840-4000.
