The day after 25-year-old Jose Villa and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Kristen Furgeri, were found dead in their bed, the charred remains of a car stolen from the murder scene were found in south Phoenix, reports the station.

Police are searching for 24-year-old Hector Karaca in connection with the double homicide. Karaca has spent time in the Arizona prison system for vehicle theft.

Family members of Villa, who live in another home on the property where the couple was found dead, reported hearing muffled gunshots the night of the alleged murders. When they went to check on what was going on, they found the victims around 11:30 p.m., said Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump.

Crump said witnesses saw the suspect get into Villa's Hyundai and drive away with the car's lights off.

Maria Rosas was friends with the victims and said they were always upbeat.

"They were always happy, outgoing," Rosas said. "They were young so they liked to go out and have fun. I just know they were always happy, always big smiles."

Crump said there was no indication of a fight and no motive had been determined. Furgeri's sister, Yoland Munguia, told CBS KPHO that she is unsure whether her sister or Villa knew the suspect.

Karaca is described as 6' tall, 175 pounds with black hair. He has numerous tattoos, including "South" and "Side" on his forearms, "Tucson" across his back and "Chavez" across his stomach, reports the station.

Crump said anyone with information about Karaca's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or 480-WITNESS (480-948-6377).
