Former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is asking for between $1 million and $1.5 million an episode to star in the reality television show she is developing, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Palin went to Los Angeles earlier this month to pitch the show, described as a "planet-Earth type look" at the state of Alaska, to broadcast networks.

The cable networks A&E Networks and Discovery Communications are now interested in acquiring the project, according to Hollywood Reporter. Palin is producing the show, currently being called "Sarah Palin's Alaska," with reality-show producer Mark Burnett, who is known for his shows like "Survivor" and "The Apprentice."

Palin has cultivated a career in media as a commentator for Fox News and as a best-selling author. Her daughter Bristol Palin is also beginning an acting career.

Last year, after speculation developed that Palin could host her own talk show, the former Alaska governor told Barbara Walters it would not be in the "best interests" of her family.

"I would not ever want to put my kids through such a thing," she said. "Our life has become kind of a reality show."
