Motel maid took 13 pills from Room 13, say Pennsylvania police

Police in Beaver, Pa., say they caught a hotel maid pilfering a bottle of painkillers from guests by disguising a camera to look like an alarm clock. CBS

(CBS/AP) INDUSTRY, Pa. - And the losing number is...13!

Police have charged a former maid with stealing 13 painkiller pills from Room 13 at a family-owned motel in western Pennsylvania.

Police say the owners of the Willows Inn contacted them after guests complained about money and prescription drugs being stolen from their rooms last month.

So, as Beaver police Chief Dan Madgar tells the Beaver County Times,  police installed a camera - disguised as an alarm clock - in Room 13 on Feb. 13 (naturally) to see who was behind the thefts.

On March 1, police say they caught a motel maid, Adria Maceross, putting a pill bottle in her pocket, and say she she later confessed to taking 13 pills in it that day.
