Mom livid after driver,19, kills son, allegedly tweets photo of body
A Florida woman is heartbroken and outraged after a driver fatally struck her teenage son and then allegedly posted a picture of the body on Twitter.
Connie Coles told CBS affiliate WJAX-TV in Jacksonville that Keenan Slaughter, the driver who fatally struck her son, Trevius Williams, should have asked for help on Twitter instead of posting a picture of her son's body.
"How dare you stand over my son's mangled bloody body and take a picture of him. To see the holes in my baby's face, the blood coming from his ears, you know my baby in a body bag at the age of 16, he's in a body bag," Coles said.
The twitter page of Slaughter, 19, is now set to private, the station reported.
Williams was headed to the store when he was struck and killed by a car, police said Sunday.
WJAX found tweets that the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said were sent by the driver and included pictures of the dead teen lying on a curb.
"The person tweeting was indeed the driver," said JSO Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda.
WTEV reported that Slaughter also tweeted song lyrics about drinking "lean" -- a mix of cough syrup and soda - about two hours before the crash was reported.
Bujeda said officers did not conduct a Breathalyzer or blood-alcohol test on Slaughter because officers had no reasonable suspicion he was impaired, the station reported.
According to a traffic crash report, Slaughter was distracted by an electronic communication device.
