(AP) BLUE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A woman has died and her three children were injured after being struck by a vehicle while walking along a dark West Michigan roadway on Mother's Day.

The Muskegon Chronicle and WOOD-TV report 24-year-old Erica Watson of Holland, Mich., died after being hit Sunday night in Muskegon County's Blue Lake Township.

Four-year-old Hanesis Bell and 6-month-old Eryk Quontata Watson were in critical condition Monday after being airlifted to a children's hospital in Grand Rapids. Sheriff Dean Roesler says 1-year-old Hollis Bell Jr. was treated and released.

The sheriff says the motorist who struck them is a 43-year-old man whose name won't be released until the investigation is done.

The crash occurred after sunset. Roesler says Watson and her children were walking in a dark area and wearing dark clothing.
