Missing Ala. woman found, spurs car chase
STEVENSON, Ala. -- A northern Alabama woman who was reported missing over the weekend was found on Sunday and she now faces several charges included attempted murder, according to CBS affiliate WDEF.
Ashley Grider Kennedy, 34, allegedly stole a vehicle from the parking lot of a car service center around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, reports the station. Kennedy had been reported missing after she was last seen Friday night in Stevenson, Ala. in Jackson County, according to Al.com.
The Hollywood Police Department stopped the vehicle, but as the officer approached, Kennedy allegedly sped off, according to WDEF. Several law enforcement agencies then pursued Kennedy, according to the news site.
Officers halted the high-speed chase, reportedly by using spike strips in the road -- leading Kennedy to lose control and crash, striking a guard rail. She was reportedly taken to the Huntsville Hospital, according to Al.com.
She was released from the hospital and booked into the Jackson County jail early Monday morning, the site reported. She is being held on a $105,500 bond.
Authorities say Kennedy also made an attempt to strike a deputy with her vehicle before the crash, according to WDEF.
