(CBS News) After being rushed to the hospital following her performance on Monday night's "Dancing with the Stars," Melissa Gilbert was still not feeling well enough to appear on the results show Tuesday.

"Melissa is not here. She did suffer a mild concussion," host Tom Bergeron said during the show. "On her doctor's advice, she is taking a rest day and if they get through tonight ,she'll be able to compete going forward."

Gilbert, 47, was sent to the hospital as a precaution Monday, after she hit her head performing a paso doble with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. She later gave her Twitter followers an update on her injuries:

"I'm alright," she tweeted. "Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of."

Chmerkovskiy also got hurt during the routine. During Tuesday's results show, Bergeron asked the professional dancer about his injured arm.

"Yes, it takes away from the pain in the ankles knees and shoulders," he joked, but then wished his partner a speedy recovery.

"I really do hope she's OK. She's a fighter, a trouper," he said. "I'm looking forward to next week. She's looking forward to next week. But she's a little sedated so she doesn't know what she's looking forward to."

She and Chmerkovskiy will be able to dance again next week - the star sent home Tuesday was "The View" co-host Sherri Shepherd.
