(CBS/AP) COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - The pastor of a Georgia megachurch wants to try to raise nearly a quarter of a million dollars to help the family of Greg McDowell, who was gunned down during a prayer service last week.

The Rev. Creflo Dollar told members of the World Changers Church International on Sunday that the goal is to raise $234,000 for the 39-year-old church volunteer.

Police said former church employee Floyd Palmer walked into a chapel on the megachurch's campus Wednesday and shot McDowell as he led a prayer service. Palmer has been charged with murder in McDowell's shooting death.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Dollar said the church aims to erase all debts for McDowell's family, and urged congregation members to "show the world the power of a megachurch."
