"We are still trying to figure out who and why anyone would ask the volunteers to turn away from Madonna. She has never and would never ask anyone to do that ever," Liz Rosenberg told the Toronto Sun on Wednesday.

Rosenberg added that Madonna thanked volunteers for their hard work from the stage before the festival premiere of the film.

A festival organizer said that the demand came from a private security film, according to Reuters.

Madonna was at the festival to screen and promote her film "W.E."
