(CBS/AP) CANTON, Texas - An East Texas man is being held without bond in the shooting death of his wife after he found her in her ex-boyfriend's bedroom, authorities said Monday.

Larry Maples, 44, was charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for fatally shooting his wife, 34-year-old Heather Maples. He's being held at the Van Zandt County jail.

Authorities said Larry Maples saw his wife's vehicle at a home near Canton, 60 miles east of Dallas, early Sunday and entered through an unlocked door.

Maples opened fire on his wife and 47-year-old Moses Clemente in the bedroom, according to CBS affiliate KYTX. He then called 911 and turned himself in.

His wife was pronounced dead Sunday at the home. Clemente remained in critical condition Monday.

Authorities said Heather Maples and Clemente had a relationship before she married Larry Maples.
