Jodie Foster, reluctant star

"I wish that I could live my life without knowing what it was to be famous," said Jodie Foster during a 60 Minutes interview in 1999.

The reluctant star described fame as her "one regret" because of its effect on her personal connections and her view of the world.

Foster has a history of guarding the intimate details of her life and her speech at the Golden Globes last night -- in which she publicly addressed her sexuality and ex-partner Cydney Bernard -- although forthcoming, included her long-time quest for privacy.

"You guys might be surprised but I am not Honey Boo Boo child," Foster said, referring to a child reality star. "No, I'm sorry. That's just not me. It never was and it never will be."

Working in film and TV since the age of 3, Foster has consistently shunned the spotlight -- a topic she discusses with Charlie Rose in the above video.
