Jewel and husband Ty Murray welcome a son
(CBS) - It's a son for Jewel and husband Ty Murray.
The singer and Murray, a professional bull rider, welcomed their first child Monday evening in Texas.
The boy, named Kase Townes Murray, weighed 7 lbs., 6 oz., and arrived at 7 p.m. CST, her rep tells People.
"Ty and I are so pleased to welcome our new baby boy into the world," Jewel, 36, tells the magazine."We are overcome with happiness - it really is as great as everyone told us it would be - better even!"
The couple, who married in the Bahamas in 2008, announced they were expecting in January. It was also then when Jewel revealed to People about her difficulties conceiving.
"I have always been a workaholic, so I had to learn how to slow down and take care of myself in a different way," she said.
