Idris Elba makes history for Maxim magazine

British actor and all-around stud Idris Elba made headlines again today as the first ever man to grace the cover of Maxim magazine solo.

Sporting a leopard-print coat for the September fashion issue, Elba rocks the historic moment like only he could.

"We've never in U.S. Maxim history had a man on the cover solo," Maxim editor-in-chief Kate Lanphear told Racked. "This is the very first time, and there was no one else in the world more bad-ass than Idris."

Elba has a feature in the magazine where he discusses life, sex, movies and rumors that set the internet aflame earlier this year.

A viral rumor that Elba was set to play the next James Bond all but ruined his chances to do so.

But that isn't stopping Elba from wishing.

"If I were the Bond producers and everyone was pointing me toward one actor, what's the surprise in that?" Elba told Maxim. "Honestly, it's one of those things that if it should happen, it would be a self-fulfilling prophecy; it would be the will of a nation."

Elba will be starring as the commander of an African child army in Cary Fukunaga's "Beasts of No Nation" next month. And while he might not be introducing himself as Mr. Bond anytime soon, these upcoming red carpet appearances will give him the chance to rock a tailored tux anyway.

The issue is on newsstands now.
