Hugh Jackman to return for "X-Men: Days of Future Past"

Hugh Jackman is once again returning to the "X-Men" world.

Director Bryan Singer confirmed Wednesday that the actor has joined the cast of "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

Singer shared the news on his Twitter page:

The director did not say how involved Jackman's role in the film would be.

Last month, Singer revealed that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan, who played Professor X and Magneto in the earlier "X-Men" films, will also return for "Days of Future Past."

This will mark the seventh time that Jackman has played the character of Wolverine. He also starred in the first trilogy of "X-Men" films, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," made a memorable cameo in the 2011 reboot "X-Men: First Class" and has another solo film, "The Wolverine," due out next year.

"Days of Future Past" is scheduled to be released on July 18, 2014.
