Prosecutors: N.J. man took $200K from woman he met online

WAYNE, N.J. -- A New Jersey man is accused of taking more than $200,000 from a woman he met through an online dating website, reports CBS New York.

After meeting and dating 48-year-old Tracy Morris over a period of several weeks, prosecutors allege Haissam Fostok, 45, withdrew the money from her 401K account, according to the station. Fostok reportedly faces multiple charges, including theft by deception.

After he met her kids and took her out, he allegedly began asking Morris for money, guaranteeing a six percent return.

"He was very charming; he dressed really well. He took me to dinner, and he paid for everything," she recalled in a January interview with CBS New York.

Thinking it was a good investment, she first gave Fostok $20,000, but eventually handed over the full $200,000 from her account, reported the station.

After 60 days had passed, Fostok still hadn't paid up -- once Morris reportedly started incurring penalties, she broke off the relationship. After filing a lawsuit against him, she found out about his double life, according to CBS New York.

"Twelve days after I handed him a check for $200,000, he rented a house for his wife and four children," Morris said in the earlier interview.

Fostok is also accused of having used Morris' credit cards for person expenses -- after telling her the purchases were business-related, prosecutors say.

If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison, according to the station.
