Florida man arrested for allegedly murdering homeless couple
TAMPA, Fla. -- Hillsborough sheriff's deputies have arrested the man they believe killed a homeless couple.
The Tampa Bay Times reports 46-year-old Ricky Fitzgerald Hathorn was arrested Monday on charges of murder and sexual battery.
Officials say Hathorn killed 52-year-old Tommy Skeens and his girlfriend 45-year-old Lara Kuchar early Saturday. Detectives believe Hathorn had made sexual advances toward Kuchar. When they died, detectives say Kuchar was partially undressed and beaten. Officials also discovered a blood-covered piece of wood and a used condom nearby.
According to officials, Hathorn admitted to beating the couple.
He was held Tuesday on $550,000 bail. It isn't clear if he has an attorney.
