AP / CBS

(CBS) MIAMI, Fla. - Michael Barberan, a 41-year-old man who ran a basketball camp, was arrested in Miami Tuesday night for allegedly offering to pay a young boy to perform sex acts, The Miami Herald reports.

Barberan is charged with one count of procuring a person younger than 18 for prostitution and one count of exposing a minor to harmful motion pictures or exhibitions, the paper reports. He was arrested and brought to Miami-Dade County jail by South Miami police.

Authorities reportedly told The Miami Herald that the suspect knew the boy through Facebook and eventually began meeting the boy in person and playing basketball with him after school.

The Miami Herald says that Barberan eventually broached the topic of sex with the minor. According to the Herald, police said, Barberan posed as an escort and told the boy he would pay him money for "performing sexual acts."

The paper also reported that police said Barberan asked the boy to videotape him while he "performed sexual acts with another man." Barberan was allegedly planning on selling the tape to a porn company.

Police said Barberan did admit to offering to pay the boy to perform sex acts, The Miami Herald reports.
