"Fashion Star" negotiations with unions in the works

Talks have begun on season two of NBC's "Fashion Star."

Earlier this week, production of the reality competition was brought to a haltafter members of the union went on strike. But now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a contract is in the works over health benefits and pension for union employees of the show.

On Saturday, nearly 70 members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees picketed the series outside Hollywood Center Studios and  shutting down production.

A source told THR that both sides have been sending email proposals and that parties plan to meet face to face soon for "substantive negotiations."

"Fashion Star" is executive produced by Elle Macpherson and stars celebrity mentors Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos. The series gives 14 unknown designers the chance to win a multi-million dollar prize to launch their lines at Macy's, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue.
