NEW YORK (CBS) Fantasia Barrino has been released from the hospital following an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid.

The former "American Idol" season 3 winner was hospitalized in Charlotte, N.C., on Monday and was released from the hospital late Wednesday, says her manager Brian Dickens.

According to People magazine, Dickens issued a statement on behalf of the 26-year-old star, saying, "She has been lifted up by the outpouring of love and support from her fans. She is more committed than ever to her daughter and her work because they are her heart, her soul and inspiration."

The medical scare came after Barrino's name came up in a child custody dispute between Antwaun Cook and his wife, Paula. Cook's wife alleged the singer carried on an affair with her husband, which led to the deterioration of the couple's marriage.

Barrino has denied she is responsible for their marriage breakup. However, People reported that her manager later confirmed that Barrino had dated Cook "off and on for 11 months," but that the singer believed Cook and his wife were separated and that she is now "heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused."
