Elzbieta Plackowska Update: Family of slain Ill. girl, 5, extends sympathy to family of boy, 7, allegedly killed by mom

(CBS/AP) NAPERVILLE, Ill. -  The family of a 5-year-old girl suburban Chicago girl who was stabbed to death last week is  thanking people for their support, and extending sympathy to the family of the 7-year-old boy who died with her.

The boy's mother, Elzbieta Plackowsa, is accused of killing both children.

The Naperville Police Department distributed a statement Tuesday from the family of 5-year-old Olivia Dworakowski. The statement says a memorial service for the girl will be private. A memorial fund has been set up for the family at the Naperville Bank & Trust.

Also Tuesday, hundreds of mourners gathered at a Naperville church for the funeral Mass of 7-year-old Justin Plackowska.

Elzbieta Plackowska is accused of stabbing her son 100 times and Olivia 50 times. Authorities say Plackowska has confessed to the slayings.

Prosecutors say she was babysitting the 5-year-old girl at home with her son when she killed them.
