Body of missing Illinois woman found in shallow grave

LADD, Ill. — Illinois State Police say they’ve found the body of a woman from the village of Ladd who’s been missing since Aug. 22.

State police said Wednesday that a body found buried in a shallow grave in a yard in the small town of Standard has been identified as 62-year-old Deborah Dewey. Standard is about 10 miles south of Ladd.

State police planned a news conference later Wednesday afternoon. They say Dewey’s body was identified using dental records.

Dewey was reported missing after she didn’t report to work at Riverfront Machine in Spring Valley. Her unlocked car was found at a truck stop in Morris on Aug. 29.
