Dallas Serial Rapist: Eighth woman says she was a victim of armed rapist near Dallas park, police say
(CBS) DALLAS -Police say an eighth woman claims to be the victim of an armed serial rapist in south Dallas, reports CBS DFW.
The eighth woman came forward after police this week announced attacks on seven other women that happened between June 22 and Sept. 1 near Dallas' Fair Park, reports the station. They believe the attacks are connected.
All of the victims were attacked in the early morning hours, and police say each reported being attacked by a suspect armed with a semi-automatic handgun who demanded money and forced them to a different location, where he sexually assaulted them.
Police are now on the hunt for the suspect, stepping up patrols near the park and using a special task force to apprehend the suspect. Officials are also working on a composite sketch, reports the station.
Police are describing the suspect as a black male in his mid-20s to 30 years old, weighing about 200 lbs., 5'6"-5'11" tall. He wears oval, gold-rimmed prescription glasses, t-shirts and basketball shorts, reports the station. The suspect has been seen driving away from some of the locations in a gray four-door Honda Civic or an older model gray four-door Volvo.
Dallas Police were scheduled to host a community meeting Thursday evening.
Maj. Jeff Cotner advises the public to use care when walking in the target area near Fair Park, where the State Fair of Texas runs Sept. 27 through Oct. 20.
Crime Stoppers has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the man.
