"Daily Show" host Trevor Noah recovering from appendectomy

NEW YORK -- Comedy Central says "The Daily Show" host Trevor Noah underwent an emergency appendectomy Wednesday morning.

The procedure went well and Noah was expected back on the show Thursday, the network said.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the network said they wish him a speedy recovery.

A repeat episode was to be aired Wednesday.

Noah took over as host of "The Daily Show" in September, succeeding Jon Stewart, who stepped down in August after 15 years.

The 31-year-old comedian, who hails from South Africa, had been a contributor to the Comedy Central show since December.
