NEW YORK (CBS) Charlie Sheen has checked into rehab.

A rep for the "Two and a Half Men" star said in a statement Friday, "Charlie Sheen has voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation center today. He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern. Mr. Sheen asks that his privacy be respected at this time and that no additional informational will be provided."

News of Sheen entering treatment comes one day after he was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital Thursday morning, citing severe abdominal pain. The actor left the hospital that night.

Sheen's sitcom is going on hiatus due to his decision to enter rehab, according to a statement from CBS, Warner Bros. Television and executive producer Chuck Lorre obtained by People magazine.

"We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision," they said in the statement.

In October, Sheen was briefly hospitalized after he allegedly trashed his suite at New York's Plaza Hotel. Last summer, he pleaded guilty to assaulting his third wife, Brooke Mueller, in Aspen, Colo. He completed three months of probation in that case.
