Charges dismissed against homeless man beaten by two New York City police officers, DA says

(CBS/AP) NEW YORK - The charges against a homeless man are now being dismissed after his beating by two New York City police officers was caught on video.

District Attorney Charles Hynes said Monday that he decided to drop the charges against 21-year-old Ehud Halevy "after review of all available evidence."

Halevy was arrested on Oct. 8 inside a Jewish community center in Brooklyn on charges including assault, resisting arrest and trespassing.

A security video showed two officers confronting Halevy and trying to handcuff him. When he pushes one of the officers away, another officer starts to pummel him. The first officer appears to hit him with a baton.

The officers are now under investigation by the New York Police Department's internal affairs unit and the district attorney's office.
