(CBS) Earlier this year, Vogue reported that Catherine Walker, a favorite of the late Princess Diana, was one of the fashion designers under speculation to be Kate Middleton's wedding dress designer.

Instead, it turned out that she was the designer for Middleton's mother's ensemble for the big day.

Carole Middleton wore a sky blue wool crepe coatdress with matching satin piping over a silk day dress with short pleated sleeves and pleated pockets. Both the dress and coatdress were designed by Walker's label. Her hat is by Berkshire-based Jane Corbett.

Walker's label is now known as Catherine Walker & Co. as Walker, 65, passed away last September from cancer. Though she may be gone, her works live on.

The designer is known for styling Diana in several memorable garments from her marriage to Prince Charles to her untimely death. The Princess of Wales was buried in a Walker creation, according to the New York Times.

Walker has also designed Countess Guerrini Maraldi's wedding dress, which included taggering 44,000 hand-embroidered pearl and crystal beads and 300 meters of stitched cord.
