Not too smooth.
Scottdale police tell The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review the owner of the century-old mansion found nine cases of whiskey hidden in the walls and stairwell after she bought the place in 2012. The hidden whiskey was bottled a century earlier, in 1912, by the nearby West Overton Distilling Co.
Investigators say the 62-year-old caretaker, John Saunders, drank 52 bottles of whiskey (one a week?) valued at $102,000 by a New York auction house.
Saunders is charged with receiving stolen property and theft, and faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
