California home burglary suspect accidentally takes selfie

Police in southern California are looking for a burglar who broke into a home while the victims were asleep

VENICE, Calif. - A burglar accidentally recorded a video selfie after allegedly breaking into a Southern California home, and police are hoping someone will recognize the face.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the suspect entered a Venice residence through an unlocked side door around 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 11. Two teenage girls and one woman were asleep in the home at the time.

The suspect then allegedly grabbed an iPhone in the home and accidentally activated a video application, capturing a clear image of his face. He fled, taking the phone, but according to the Associated Press the owner was able to access the video remotely and send it to police.
