Bruce Springsteen to receive MusiCares' Person of the Year honor

(CBS News) Bruce Springsteen has been named the 2013 MusiCares' Person of the Year.

The Boss will receive the distinction on Feb. 8, 2013, two days before the 55th annual Grammy Awards.

The 20-time Grammy winner is being recognized for his accomplishments and charitable work. Springsteen has long been associated with organizations aimed at alleviating homelessness and hunger.

Proceeds from the 23rd annual benefit gala dinner and concert will go to MusiCares, which helps music artists with medical expenses and overall finances.

The event is always a star-studded affair. This year, Katy Perry, Coldplay and Neil Young were among the artists who helped salute Paul McCartney, the 2012 MusiCares' Person of the Year.

Springsteen has had a busy year so far. After releasing "Wrecking Ball," he hit the road on a world tour. Recent shows in Europe have clocked in at a whopping four hours. Bruce Springseten & the E Street Band will next stop in Paris on July 4.
