Boyfriend charged in house fire deaths of Ga. mom, baby

COLUMBUS, Ga.--A man suspected of killing his Columbus, Ga. girlfriend and her baby, whose bodies were found last week in the wreckage of a house fire, has turned himself in to police, reports CBS affiliate WRBL.

Brandon Conner, 35, was arrested Tuesday night after police named him a suspect in the death of Rosella Mitchell and her 6-month-old son Dylan Conner.

Mitchell, whose death was ruled a homicide, is believed to have had life threatening stab wounds before the fire, according to WRBL.

An autopsy is being performed in Atlanta to help positively identify the remains of the victims using dental records.

Conner's attorney, Mark Shelnutt, told WRBL that his client is innocent and is cooperating with police.
