OVIEDO, Fla. (CBS/WKMG) A man who was living temporarily with his 21-year-old girlfriend, Amanda Shafer, was arrested after her father came home and found her body on the bedroom floor, say Oviedo police.

Authorities said 25-year-old Scott Myers was taken into custody Thursday without incident near his mother's home in Winter Springs, in central Florida. According to an Oviedo police spokesman, Winter Springs police set up a lookout in the neighborhood where the suspect's mother lived.

Just after 6 p.m., police launched a search for Myers after Shafer's father found her body, and her rental car was missing.

After the discovery was made, the neighborhood was crawling with police, and close friends of the victim told CBS affiliate WKMG that Myers was an abusive boyfriend who was being allowed to temporarily stay at the house with Shafer and her father.

Police said a neighbor told them they saw the couple arguing earlier in the day.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, police described Shafer's injuries as traumatic.

Friends said Myers was jealous of her and sexually abused her. They also said that Shafer was in the process of trying to kick him out.

Myers was taken to the Seminole County Jail.
