Bill White Explains How He Can Beat Rick Perry in Texas Governor Race

Former Houston Mayor Bill White, the Democratic candidate for governor of Texas, boasted his real world experience and bipartisan support on "Washington Unplugged" Thursday. He called his Republican opponent , incumbent Gov. Rick Perry "a career politician who has let us lag behind." Moderator Nancy Cordes asked him how he plans to win as a Democratic contender in a traditionally red state. "This election is not going to be about reds and blues. I was always able to get great bipartisan support," he responded. "Republicans, Independents and Democrats have been joining my campaign because they want someone with business experience who shoots straight from the hips." "No Texas governor has been re-elected as many times as Rick Perry wants to be elected," he added. "Washington Unplugged," CBSNews.com's exclusive daily politics Webshow, appears live on CBSNews.com each weekday at 12:30 p.m. ET. Click here to check out previous episodes.
