"Biggest Loser" alum Damien Gurganious dies at 38

Damien Gurganious, one of the contestants on "The Biggest Loser: Couples 2," died on Nov. 24 after suffering inoperable bleeding in his brain due to complications from a rare autoimmune disorder.

Damien's wife Nicole, who starred with him on NBC's weight loss reality show, shared the sad news on Facebook.

"As most of you know, I never post on social media," Nicole wrote. "So, it is highly ironic and deeply sad that my first true post is to inform you of the tragic loss of my beloved husband, Damien Gurganious."

Nicole explained the details of Damien's disease and shared fond memories of her late husband in the social media message.

"All of you who knew Damien can attest to his generous and loving spirit, his outgoing and gregarious personality, and his caring and compassionate nature," she wrote. "Damien always desired to bring out the best in those around him by offering encouragement, support and love, often couched in his own hilarious and sage adages."

"The Biggest Loser" will air an "In Memoriam" title card after next week's episode to pay tribute to the reality star and Gurganious's family has set up The Damien Gurganious Family Fund to ease financial strain on Nicole and the couple's 2-year-old daughter, Giselle.
