Aretha Franklin: "There will be no wedding at this time"

(CBS) Aretha Franklin and her fiance William "Willie" Wickerson have called off their wedding.

"Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast, and there were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly," Franklin told Us Weekly in a statement. "There will be no wedding at this time."

Pictures: Aretha Franklin "We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it," the statement explained. "We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends."

Earlier this month, the Queen of Soul, 69, announced she would marry her longtime friend this summer in Miami Beach. At the time, she was considering a dress by Donna Karen, Valentino or Vera Wang.
