Amber Alert issued for missing 9-year-old Texas girl
BENBROOK, Texas - An Amber Alert was issued early Tuesday for a missing nine-year-old Texas girl who was last seen Friday and is believed to have been kidnapped by her uncle, reports CBS DFW.
Officials say Caitlyn Elizabeth Williams was last seen leaving her Benbrook home at around 3 p.m. on Friday, May 22 to spend the weekend with a friend. She was due to return on Sunday, but never did, according to the station.
Authorities are searching for the girl's uncle, 24-year-old Jessie Nicholas Williams, in connection with her disappearance. He was last seen in Benbrook on Saturday with the missing girl -- once at a motel and another time at a beauty salon.
Police have issued a kidnapping warrant against Jessie Williams and say they believe the girl may be in danger, reports the station. The FBI is involved in the search.
The nine-year-old was reported missing by her parents on Monday. Her great-grandmother, Linda Bullard, told CBS DFW the child left home Friday on a bicycle to head to her friend's house for a slumber party, but never made it there.
"Somebody has that baby and they need to give her back," said Bullard. "She's somewhere, got to be somewhere. We need her home."
It's unclear why the girl's parents waited until Monday to file a missing persons report, but authorities have said they do not suspect the parents in their daughter's disappearance, reports the station.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Caitlyn Williams or Jessie Williams to contact the Benbrook Police Department immediately.
Caitlyn Williams is described as 4 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 95 pounds. She had brown, wavy hair to the middle of her back, but police said Tuesday morning that they have reason to believe that her hair may have been cut short to alter her appearance.
She was last seen wearing a yellow T-shirt with a Benbrook Field Day logo, jeans, and pink and black tennis shoes. She was riding a pink, purple and white bike.
Jessie Williams is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing around 220 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
