Sarah Palin to Visit Fort Hood

(AP Photo/Madalyn Ruggiero)
Former Alaska Governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will visit Fort Hood Army post next month as a part of her book tour, her publisher told the Wall Street Journal.

Palin is going on the road to promote her memoir "Going Rogue," which goes on sale next week. She had reportedly been planning to visit Fort Hood on her tour before the shootings at the military outpost, which left 13 dead.

Special Section: Tragedy at Fort Hood

According to the Journal, an official at Fort Hood contacted Palin's publisher at some point after the attack to indicate that she should go ahead with the planned appearance, scheduled for December 4th.

Palin's book tour begins November 18th. She is largely avoiding liberal-leaning cities such as Seattle, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. Instead, she is stopping in Sioux City, Iowa; Noblesville, Indiana; Washington, Pennsylvania; and Rochester, New York.

The Fort Hood visit, the Journal reports, coincides with a stop in Dallas. Palin is also planning to stop at the military base at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

I am just wondering why the left is so focused on someone who is not in office..while the idiot in the WH approval poll numbers drop to 43%.I'd be more worried about what he's doing....

This was scheduled and THE PEOPLE wanted her to come..Thousands wait in line over nite..are you that out of touch?
by RespectMichael December 5, 2009 10:43 AM EST
I meant to say this was on the schedule before the massacre. The base could of canceled but the base wanted her there because the military people love her, and believe me..they appreciated her coming more than Obama and the Obama people know it. Just look at the fiasco the WH caused by trying to keep the media out of her Ft Bragg visit...the decision had to be reversed, it came out that the Obama people were afraid that the enthusiasm for Palin would be embarassing to the commander-in chief...

Will Ms. Palin leave half way thru her visit ? Ft Hood is in Texas sort of near the Rio Grande River and Mexico lies to the South of the Rio Grande . Maybe Ms. Palin can now claim more foreign policy experience from this visit . It's a bit of a stretch but who knows .

Poland and Germany are important and hopefully the president will visit there as soon as his schedule will allow but what does your blog have to do with Sarah Palins visit to Ft. Hood . I am as tucked and puctuated about that as you are .

Sarah Palin would make a great spokesmodel on a game show. "Why thank you, Sarah. I'll take whatever is behind Door Number Three. Hmm. It looks like what's behind Door Number Three is a theocracy. Don't they already have one of those in Iran...?"

The latest internal government estimates place the cost of adding 40,000 American troops and sharply expanding the Afghan security forces, as favored by Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, the top American and allied commander in Afghanistan, at $40 billion to $54 billion a year, the officials said.

Even if fewer troops are sent, or their mission is modified, the rough formula used by the White House, of about $1 million per soldier a year, appears almost constant.

So even if Mr. Obama opts for a lower troop commitment, Afghanistan?s new costs could wash out the projected $26 billion expected to be saved in 2010 from withdrawing troops from Iraq. And the overall military budget could rise to as much as $734 billion, or 10 percent more than the peak of $667 billion under the Bush administration.

Such an escalation in military spending would be a politically volatile issue for Mr. Obama at a time when the government budget deficit is soaring, the economy is weak and he is trying to pass a costly health care plan.

Senior members of the House Appropriations Committee have already expressed reservations about the potential long-term costs of expanding the war in Afghanistan. And Mr. Obama could find it difficult to win approval for the additional spending in Congress, where he would have to depend on Republicans to counter defections from liberal Democrats.

Pack .45 stay off the beach . You have been out in the sun too long . Sarah Palin quit while she was ahead , is not qualified even if she did read ALL of the magazines , has no experience at the federal level . Obama 's record has not been completely recorded yet , he has been in office 10 months . Ugly ? She was embarassed by Joe Biden last fall during the last presidential campaign . Common Sense was written by Thomas PAine . Why don't you blog her campaign manager to see if she has read that pamphlet also .Fear and loathing was in vegas . Written by hunter s thompson . I don't Sarah Palin is loathed . Like george bush she is residential not presidential .If Palin is the best that the republican party has to offer I see 4 more years in Barack Obama's future ( as US president ) .

"pasmalltown"- Your utter fear of Palin is duly noted. Common Sense has become such a rare quality that, anymore people don?t know it when they see it. But Common Sense still trumps everything and Sarah Palin has it in spades. This is why the left fears and loathes her so. It?s why she troubles the power structure on the right as well. Sarah couldn?t do any better than what she's doing, running the national debate from Alaska. As Tammy Bruce said, ?type, type, type, send.? Wait til 2012 when Sarah get's to debate Obama. It will get ugly as she points out his record. Obama is gonna get trounced, and doubters will not be able to dismiss her anymore. Bring it!

The key difference between Obama and Palin?Palin survived a gauntlet of media criticism and emerged stronger. Obama survived a cotton candy and twinkie treatment from the media and still has a glass jaw.

Sarah dared to mock the "Community Organizer" on national t.v. She tells the truth about the ignorance of Hollywood "elites". She has the "audacity" to reveal the lies of the "liberal" press. She connects with what people know inside to be right and tugs on their consciences about abortion and real "freedom". She tears away the "liberal" mask and exposes the rot of their ignorance and hypocrisy. They think they've won. But, low and behold, it's not working! Panic time! She might even bring them all down! I wonder who would be the President of the USA ?TODAY? had abortion been legal in 1960?

All Palin supporters should read this A.P. article about her upcomming book, "Going Rogue", then try to tell me she's honest, sincere, "fighting for our liberties" and "has values, convictions":

I base my statement on a lot of research. Sarah studied Reagan, a Conservative, she learned from Reagan. I?m going to go right ahead and say this, Sarah Palin may be one of Reagan?s greatest legacies. His principles certainly helped shape Sarah?s. So take some Reagan, and mix in Sarah?s own dynamic personality, and her unwavering determination, and you have something the likes we haven?t seen in our lifetime. This is why I know she will make one hell of a President. Here she is, a private citizen, armed ONLY with LOTUS (the Laptop Of The United States) and Facebook, and she pretty much is setting the debate!

And she's going there to fight for liberty? Or is it to promote her book? What is it really about, jerk? Take your "blinders" off for a second, look past the "beacon of light" and think about it.

All the libs will be standing behind all of the true patriots, so they don't get shot when the enemy is coming a shore. Also, some has to hold the White flags.
