Sandra Bullock Battles Porn Star Janine Lindemulder for Child Custody

PORTLAND, Ore. (CBS/AP) Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock is embroiled in a custody battle between her husband and his porn star ex-wife.

Bullock is standing by her celebrity-mechanic husband, Jesse James, as he fights his ex-wife Janine Lindemulder's attempts to regain custody of their five-year-old daughter, Sunny.

James has had sole guardianship of the child since Lindemulder, an adult film star and director, was jailed for tax evasion.

Federal prosecutors on August 22, 2008 said Lindemulder, 39, of Huntington Beach, Calif., failed to pay more than $200,000 in taxes owed to the Internal Revenue Service.

As part of her plea agreement, Lindemulder admitted making a down payment on a $647,000 house in Eugene, Calif. and purchasing a new Jeep and recreational vehicle while knowing she owed the taxes.

She served six months behind bars and was recently released.

James is determined not to let his ex gain custody of their daughter, because, according to court papers, he fears his little girl would be introduced to a dangerous world if she lived with her mother.

In a statement to the court, James says, "Good cause exists for the court to conduct a review to determine if (Sunny) will be safe with (Lindemulder). She should be restrained from allowing the child around pornographers, drug addicts, guns and firearms, felons and other unsafe environments."

Lindemulder started her film career in B movies and appeared in a soft porn film, "Caged Fury," alongside non-porn actor Erik Estrada, according to IMDB.com. She has posed for Playboy and Penthouse. Since 2000, she has shifted from adult performing to directing and producing erotic films, according to IMDB.com.

Bullock, who has no biological children, recently admitted she relishes her role as stepmom to James' three kids.

According to CBS affiliate KOIN-TV, She explained, "I may never hear that word 'mom.' But being a parent is not about breeding. It's about caring."

"When you don't have that title, you flounder and it hurts. But this is the best test of being a parent. And I just have to keep reminding myself I don't care what I get. I care what I give."

What do you think? Should Janine Lindemulder regain custody of her daughter or should Sandra Bullock and Jesse James be allowed to keep her?

I am fully aware from personal experience of what love and stability a stepmother can provide to a child who cannot receive that from her biological mother.
There should be a hearing on the matter if a significant change of circumstances exist to support the best interests of the child. So,if the James' can prove that Sunny is experiencing harmful conditions under the current custody arrangement and this was NOT the case when the prior order was made (i.e.; "a change of circumstances"), then the law says there should be a hearing to determine NOW what is best for Sunny.
Regarding Sandra Bullock as stepMOM...I 100% agree that crucial bonds are formed even when you are not a biological parent. In this case, since the biological mother fails to properly parent the child and the father can, along with his new wife who can and does properly parent the child, that is most definitely in the child's best interests and supports a change in custody. I wish James' good luck....sounds like they are doing the best thing for this child.

I have plenty of friends that are bikers and they are very family oriented. My kids are around bikers alot and I think the funniest thing is they might seem rough and tough but when you see them down on the floor with your baby and talking baby talk with them, how tough are they really. I do not think that the porn star should get her daughter back. I think that Sunny should stay with James and Bullock they seems like much better role models to me. Maybe she should have thought about her choices before she lost her daughter. What is more important to her? I think all that she is worried about is HERSELF AND NOT HER DAUGHTER.

There is no doubt in anyone's mind that knows Jesse James that he is by far one of the worst people you will meet. Wake up Sandra whether he acts one way around you, the fact remains that to the people that know him he is a BAD PERSON!

I am a proponent for the law being meted out in an unbiased fashion. Although I am not anti-porn or anti-prostitution, I regard the pornography industry as enjoying "legal prostitution". That is, they get paid for having sex-but are not arrested for it. Isn't there clear evidence of that from their films, photos and pay checks? I'm not an attorney, but it seems to me that this evidence would be rock solid in court.
Is it more permissible to get paid for having sex in a film or photo studio than to go on Craigs List or from the street? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
If anyone ever gets arrested for "solicitation", they could very well use this argument.
The law is not being enforced in as uniform a way as it should be. Ms. Lindemulder should be arrested for prostitution along with countless others...ALL in the pornography business. OR decriminalize/regulate prostitution and then everyone will live under equal law in this regard.
Been meaning to send this to Guv Schwartzeneiger,as California is the capital of porn, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Though I do agree that a Porn Princess should not have custody of a child, what makes me wonder is that Sandra Bullock is hooked up with a guy who looks the part, being the husband of a Porn Princess.

I got three words . . . Jaqmie Lee Curtis. We all know how bad of a person she turned out to be. Get over it! Jesse James is a thug. You think the kid hanging around a bunch of bikers is a healthy environment for the kid? And for the people fretting about disease . . . you all need to get a life . . . you can catch your death from a hamburger or H1N1 these days. I think the only reason this article was printed was to get people to choose a side, and by throwing the more Wholesome, Sandra Bullock in the game, the argument has a sane choice. Neither Janine or Jesse have a leg to stand on of their own, when it comes down to being a quality parent. Typical CBS poke your nose into affairs that you have no business in fluff. You guys can't even be objective about a divorce and child custody story. Why take sides?

Hanging around a bunch of bikers? What have you only seen bikers in the movies? I spent plenty of time around REAL bikers. They seem rough and gruff on the outside, but they are the most family centered group of people I have been around. I would trust my children's lives to a bunch of bikers before I would trust them to the police department.

Jesse left Janine when she was seven months pregnant and had nothing to do with Sunny for the first three years of her life. Likewise, the article fails to mention him turning her over to the IRS in an attempt to wiggle through his own tax quagmire.

Janine moved to Oregon to raise her kids in a "normal" home and environment; perhaps she'll continue on that path once the jail/halfway house time is done.

It's not as though her porn profession is a revelation; Jesse knew about it when he married and procreated with her. Cutting Janine out of her daughter's life will be a huge disservice for all involved; say and assume what you wish but know that she truly, deeply loves her kids.

Moved to Oregon for a "normal life" Have you ever lived in Oregon? No law regarding the placement of Adult Shops or Strip Clubs, including allowing them next to daycare centers, family shopping malls, and churches. Eugene Oregon allows women topless in the downtown business district at any hour of the day.

Some of the largest drug trading occurs in Oregon. Oregon is NOT a safe environment for children to grow up in, that's why I moved my family away from that state over 2 years ago!

As a Oregonian, I disagree with your assessment of Oregon. It sounds as if you are not be a big supporter of freedom of speech or expression, unless it applies solely to your morals/values.

I work(ed) as an investigator for indigent criminal defense providers and previously as a consultant to the FBI, DoJ, DoD DCIS. Having lived & worked in a number of states, I retired, here because of the quality of life compared to anywhere else I've been in my 50 + years.

Drug traffic in Oregon is nothing compared to California, Texas, New York, Arizona, New Mexico, Florida, etc. . .

You all are a bunch of hypocrites. Porn stars can't raise a kid? How many of you drink or do other 'street drugs', surf the porn SHE is producing/directing and then consider yourselves 'good' parents? How many of you have bought a sack of weed for yourself or a friend and have the audacity to look down your nose and judge other people. How many of you don't do any of that yet still neglect/abuse your kid anyhow? How many politicians or other people in a community that are regarded as 'upstanding' citizens go to their tax-payer paid condo and do a line off their mistress/girlfriend/hooker rear then go home to their families, yet 'you' will vote or cheer for them the next time they're in the lime light? Oh I forgot, YOU have NEVER done ANYTHING wrong. YOU judgemental hypocrits are worse than she will ever be.

I have worked in the production of pornography. I never once saw a handgun, or street drugs, or any of the things Jesse's talking about.
Street drugs. Like Jesse doesn't burn the fern.
Another thing...there's this premise: if he had stayed with Lindemulder (who was in this biz when she met him) then it would be OK for his daughter to be around all these bad things?

Janine was not in the Industry in 2002 when they met & married. Jesse's NOT asking the court about the production stuff. He's asking about the homelife. I do think this headline is crap. This isn't about Sandra fighting Jesse's ex..for her Kid...

Sandra Bullock doesn't have custody rights here. Jesse James and Janine Lindemulder are the ones who are in court over THEIR daughter, Sunny, and Jesse is the one requesting that the court make orders over who Sunny will associate with when she is spending time with her mother. Sandra Bullock is simply an interested party as the child's stepmother, who is given certain rights by the child's father when she is living with them. Jesse has a right to ask that his wife have the right to discipline the child, pick her up from school, etc., but Sandra is a legal stranger to this kid and it's quite unlikely that Janine would permit Sandra to adopt the child. Janine will always be the child's mother, with full parental rights. The only rights Sandra has are the ones that Jesse gives to her and she acts as his proxy. The headline on this story is insulting and misleading.

Get real people...
I feel very sorry for the kid if her "I made you mom" ever gets custody of her.
Growing up with a "porn ******/porn producer" for a roll model..WOW
now thats a label that will stick to the kid for life. Her future has been shaped for her in such a bad way.
Having Jesse James as a Dad has its drawbacks as well but nothing like having a mother raising you in the porn world environment.
Before you get your panties all in a knot just remember Its what is best for the Kid we are talking about here not so much the legal right of one parent over another.
I never understood why Sandra Bullock ever got hooked up with Jesse James but they say love is blind and all girls need a little "bad boy" in there life.

Sandra Bullock is setting herself up for a world of hurt.

Helpful tip for stepmothers: if you want to volunteer to raise another woman's child, do make sure that the child really needs a new mother. If the existing mother is still alive, is still in contact with the child - in short, if there aren't going to be any adoption papers - then it's not your child, and trying to steal it away is not going to work out the way you fantasize it will.

Janine directs and produces porn films. Hello! Do you have any idea of the type of things that entails on a daily basis? (The drugs, the diseases, the suicides and the hellishly isolated world of the porn pariahs, with very limited job opportunities outside of the industry.) Would you want any kid being raised by a porn director, male or female?
