Biden Makes Surprise Trip to Iraq

(AP)
Vice President Joe Biden has landed in Iraq for an unannounced, two-day visit with U.S. troops and the Iraqi leadership.

According to a pool report, Biden plans to "try to reestablish contact with Iraqi leaders and try to help foster efforts at political reconciliation" during the trip.

Biden will meet with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ayad al-Samarrai.

In a release, the White House said Biden "will reiterate the United States' commitment to fully implement the Security Agreement and the Strategic Framework Agreement and to carry out President Obama’s plan to draw down U.S. forces."

"He will discuss with Iraq's leaders the importance of achieving the political progress that is necessary to ensure the nation’s long-term stability," the White House added.

This is Biden's first trip to Iraq as vice president, though he visited the country in January before being sworn in.

His visit comes on the heels of the U.S. military over security responsibilities in cities to the Iraqis.

ToolMangler, Half of the U.S. population did not vote for this stooge, or his boss. I sense an awakening has begun in this country. It may get very ugly.

I understand joe's appearance in Erie,Pa yesterday was a big bust. Guess going to Iraq he would at least get a captive audience.

ha ha ha soo funny. Maybe he could go to Afganistan next and substitute himself for the true American who is a soldier and being held captive by mullah terrorists. That would be something I would respect!

Think it'll happen??

Nah, he's got to be the watchdog, watching while the house gets robbed. LOL

So many neo-wacks, so few brains. Typical comments from Rush's peanut gallery. Y'all really do need to cut way back on the kool-aid!

There has recently been a migration of wingnuts to the CBS site from... who knows where (Neverland)? I think they are just about all here now. Did Rush send them?

Anyway, it is appreciated. Like watching the Three Stooges.

This is not aimed at 'pepperwood2' but it is aimed at all (including me)...

After reading many thousands of posts on these boards during the past eight years, I now realize that it doesn't matter who is the POTUS, the people that post here are for the most part looking for a weakness they can use to make themselves seem bigger and smarter than he is. Some of the slams are deserved but most aren't (even for the shrub). It bothers me that people are more interested in trying to tear down a leader than to get behind him and make his job do-able. To me, this is akin to "Cutting you own nose to spite your own face". How can a Nation improve if its own people are more interested in hampering the workers trying to rebuild it than helping (and guiding) them. If The USA falls into oblivion as did the Roman empire. It will be its own people that do it, not some foreign opponent or religion..... You are seeing how it starts, right here , right now!!!!!!!
