Sarah Palin Launches Political Action Committee

(AP)
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has launched a political action committee, SarahPAC.

PACs are groups – regulated by federal law -- that use donations to influence elections. The basic rules are that donors may contribute up to $5,000 per PAC per year and PACs may contribute up to $5,000 per candidate per election (with primaries and general elections counted separately. (Read more from the Center for Responsive Politics.)

The PAC's Web site is pretty sparse, offering some political boilerplate ("Our country, founded on conservative principles and the fight for freedom, must confront the challenges of the 21st century with integrity, innovation, and determination"), several shout-outs for energy independence, a form to sign up for e-mails and, pivotally, a place to donate.

As Salon's Alex Koppelman notes, most PACs started by politicians exist almost entirely for the purpose of aggrandizing their namesakes and this one will likely be no different. Palin is thought to be eyeing a presidential run in 2012.

She is expected to address the Conservative Political Action Committee meeting in Washington next month.

Also, does anyone else think that PalinPAC would have been catchier? Any chance that it was already taken?

Can you believe the ego on this woman? She misses the spotlight so much that she''s going to form a political action committee after Obama''s been president for a whole week.
What a moron.

I think she%u2019s found a way to continue to dress in the manner she%u2019s come to be accustomed to during her unsuccessful run of the Vice-Presidency of the United States of America.

Republicans and $money the scam never ends%u2026

After all screaming panic attacks that included projectile vomiting and reeling about looking for my passport, all at the thought of Sarah being one bug-eyed wheezing, chest clutching moment from being president, I think she''s kinda fun!

Go Sarah Go! Job security for Democrats in Congress!!

If she only knew what how the American People really feel......

I agree. I don''t think she is mentally stable enough to realize what a fool she is making of herself. All you have to do is watch any of her tv interviews and you can see how unstable she is, but she doesn''t see it herself. It''s a pity her kind can go untreated for many years.

Apparently feeling "miffed" about all the publicity that Illinois governor Rod Blagovich has been getting, Sarah "Ms Shoppergate" Palin has burst into the news once again reminding all of us that she may be down, but NOT OUT!

This time Palin is setting up a PAC to collect contributions by stupidly-loyal neocon Fascist Nazi Republicans who still insist that their party does have a "snowball''s chance in H-E-L-L" at winning some sort or political office.

In actuality, Palin is thinking of the new spring fashions coming out within the next month and is eagerly awaiting those "contributions" to update her family''s wardrobe!

HAIL OBAMA!!!

If Sarah Palin is the hope and future of the Republican party, well it will be 4 more years of Obama, and then 8 more to the Dems. This woman is pathetic to say the least.

Republican Morons should know that Obama went to two Ivy League schools (Repulicans, please search google to see what Ivy League is), not five different community colleges and one four year college to get four year degree (took 8 years). Oh well that%u2019s the basic criteria for Republican Morons though vast majority republicans are high school dropouts there are some who completed four year degree in eight years. Her own daughter already a mother outside of wedlock and high school dropout and that%u2019s the perfect example of Republican Family and family value.

Hooray! Palin will be in the news through at least 2012! I thought for a moment there wouldn''t be any more fodder for SNL. Can''t wait for the sketches.

Maybe she will pick Dan Quayle for VP!

oftencensord,
You are against stem cell reserach? Last night on the news, there was a little 6 year girl with defective optic nerves. She was taken to China, where stem cell research is prized, for treatment. She can now see, slightly. If you think that that little girl should remain blind just so that you can satisify some religious belief, I would like to see you in my headlights.

The US rates about 27th in the world in grades 1-12 education. We could be much higher if it were not for people like Palin. What concerns me most about her is her total lack of knowledge of scientific issues. If she should get elected to a position of influence and with her religious, and other, beliefs we could go to 50th. She is governer of a state with a population of 600,000. That is smaller than many cities in this country. As governer, she has had a lot of oil money to spend in her state. If she had to manage a budget without that oil money, I do not think that she would do well.

All they can come with is calling people names, they haven''''t been told yet what to think or say.

Yes Sarah, by all means, it''s true. We WANT you to run. It''s going to be a rough couple of years, and we''re going to need a good laugh. We''re not scared....we''d like nothing more. ''Course if you''re a Republican, you have to consider whether you want an even bigger drubbing than you got this time. Food for thought....

TexHillGirl --it amazes me that anyone can call Palin smart after watching her on TV. Not only did she flub her interviews during the campaign but when she started whining about being picked on by the press etc. she was even less coherent. She needs to stay in Alaska work at being a good governor and take care of her family.

blah, blah, blah

There is going to be a monthly ploy to keep her name in the news. It is a futile attempt to make her relevant.

Man, what an ego on this chick.

I say we wind her up and see how far she goes. Listen, if this helps her become more informed, good for her. I don''t know if she''s delusional enough to think she can make a credible run for the Presidency in 2012 or not, but she''s clearly positioning herself for something more than Governor of Alaska. As a woman who was NOT impressed with Palin this past year, I''m confident in saying there''s nothing she could do to get my vote. Ever. But really, I''m not her first concern. She has to beat all comers from her own party first. While I think that would be enormously entertaining, I think Pawlenty, Romney, Jindal, and/or the others would wipe the floor with her. And I think even those in the GOP that love her understand that she''s not representative of the majority of their party anymore, that she''s too polarizing, and that she wouldn''t be a viable GOP Presidential candidate. And let''s remember this. If she chooses to do this, she will HAVE to go on shows like Meet the Press and Face the Nation. She won''t be able to use the same excuses a 2nd time, she''ll be almost 50 (and not as "hot"), and she won''t be able to sell herself as "Joe Sixpack, just your average hockey mom" after telling her agent she won''t take less than $11 mil for her book. Then again, as a supporter of the other side, this would be great fun to watch.
