Burris On Face The Nation Sunday

Roland Burris, whom impeached Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich appointed to Barack Obama's Senate seat, will appear on CBS' Face The Nation Sunday morning.

The Illinois Supreme Court has ruled that the Illinois secretary of state need not sign Burris' Senate appointment, clearing one hurdle for Burris to be seated. The Senate, however, has its own rules requiring that the secretary of state signature appear on the document.

After initially vowing not to seat a Blagojevich pick, Senate Democrats have signaled their openness to potentially seating the former Illinois attorney general, though they cautioned that a number of steps must be taken first.

Also appearing this Sunday to speak with Face The Nation host and CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer are House Minority Leader John Boehner and Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin. Durbin's comments will be closely watched for hints as to where the Democratic Senate leadership now stands on seating Burris.

RE: John Boehner''s snide rip at bicycle paths. When asked about infrastructure development he said its OK so long as its used to widen highways and the like and not for things like "bike paths." His comments illustrate why the republicans lost so badly and why they are so out of touch with reality. He and his ilk are living in the past. Even Bush has supported bike paths. One need only look at todays NY Times editorial "Men on Bicycles" to realize how badly good bikeways are needed. It''s incredible to me that he also did not mention mass transit. I guess the republican leadership must have some connection to those nice petro states like Russia, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. He is essentially pimping for those countries by advocating increased driving and hence increased gas consumption. thank god these guys are not in charge anymore.

This is a good move by Roland Burris to appear on Face The Nation, Bob Schieffer won''t take it easy on him and if Burris passes Bob''s test he passes mine! Should be interesting, I can hear Bob now, o.k., lets get right to it!
