Palin Unleashes New Attack Against Obama On Coal

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(MARIETTA, OHIO) - Seizing on a newly released audio tape picked up by the Drudge Report, Sarah Palin took the opportunity here in coal country to accuse Barack Obama of “talking about bankrupting the coal industry.”

“He said that, sure, if the industry wants to build coal-fired power plants, then they can go ahead and try, he says, but they can do it only in a way that will bankrupt the coal industry, and he's comfortable letting that happen,” Palin said. “And you got to listen to the tape.”

The audiotape Palin was referring to was recorded by the San Francisco Chronicle in a Jan. 17 interview.

“Why is the audiotape just now surfacing?” Palin asked, leading someone in the crowd to shout, “Liberal media!”

“This interview was given to San Francisco folks many, many months ago,” Palin said. “You should have known about this, so that you would have better decision-making information as you go into the voting booth.”

In the audiotape, Obama reiterated his call for a cap and trade system on carbon and greenhouse gases.

“So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can,” Obama said. “It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.”

An Obama spokesperson said that Obama’s remarks were taken out of context and pointed out that in another part of the interview, Obama said that the idea of eliminating coal plants was “an illusion.”

“The point Obama is making is that we need to transition from coal burning power plants built with old technology to plants built with advanced technologies--and that is exactly the action that will be incentivized under a cap and trade program,” the spokesperson said. “We know that additional work is necessary to develop and deploy these technologies. That is why Obama has argued for a robust funding program for carbon capture and sequestration. It’s strikingly similar to what McCain has said (in fact McCain goes a step further saying he wants to transition completely away from coal).”

One more fear tactile by Palin and McCain. The fact is Republicans really have disdain for Catholics, but they only use Catholics for votes, then forget about them.

I do believe the great people of Pennsylvania see through Palin''s big black hole of distortions and deceptions. The very people who killed our beloved late President John F. Kennedy who was Catholic, were white supremists who McCain and Palin support and have as supporters.

Palin and McCain are grasping at anything that will ignite. She needs to go back to Alaska and clean up her oil messes and her unethical mistakes. Retire McCain and send him back to his retirement home in Arizona, and send Palin packing back to Alaska where she may soon face impeachment proceedings.

Be smart, wise, and knowledgeable. Elect Obama.Biden with Clinton for change 2008.

Anthropogenic global warming/climate change is a lie. Beer''s Law, lab experiments and empirical data have proven that CO2 can''t significantly heat the atmosphere. It''s accepted that global avg. temps. rose only by ~0.7 degrees Celsius during the last century (and fell by the same amount in 2007). This slight atmospheric warming can''t be the reason for Arctic sea ice melting. Most sea ice is below the sea surface, so it must be warmer oceans melting the ice, and since the atmosphere can''t heat the oceans, the oceans must be warming naturally for reasons not understood. The main point is that CO2 can''t heat the atmosphere significantly, and ANY plan to regulate/tax carbon is asinine whether it comes from Obama or McCain. We''ve been lied to about CO2. CO2 will never catastrophically heat the atmosphere unless carbon emissions increase exponentially. Do the research and you''ll see. It takes time and effort to discover the truth amidst the sea of propaganda that pervades the mass media. CO2 is an essential trace gas that makes life on Earth possible. It''s not a deadly pollutant. Folks, wake up before Draconian CO2 regulation and taxation destroys what''s left of this fragile economy.

To NoRepubs and rrauch1, intelligent responses. Listen to the audio; it''s his own words. She is not lying, and no matter what his camp tries to spin, the fact remains that is what he said. Here''s the transcript verbatim; listen to the audio if you don''t believe it:

"Let me sort of describe my overall policy.

What I''ve said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else''s out there.

I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it''s just that it will bankrupt them because they''re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that''s being emitted."

Obama is nothing but bait & switch; promise one thing then not deliver. It appears Biden was right about the coal plant issue; it also appears Biden was right about the $150,000 threshold. When I ran different incomes on the Obama tax calculator for head of household, 2 dependents, there was NO tax reduction until you got under $150,000, and even then between $100,000 and $150,000 it was $500. I also question how EVERYONE under $100,000 gets a $1,000 reduction? It''s a stupid calculator that just spits out a number or response when you click on a certain income; it''s what they want you to think.

Oh, Gig 15 - Obama has no ethical problems, huh? What about his lies to the American people about what he wants to do to this country? What about the money he gave to ACORN? I wouldn''t be surprised to find that all that money went for those untraceable pre-paid credit cards. What about the fact his campaign appears to be in what I would guess is an illegal lottery. If you donate by a certain time today, you could win an airplane ticket, hotel room, backstage pass, and front row tickets to his big event election night. Sounds like gambling to me. Why doesn''t someone investigate that?

You can''t just build things for the sake of building. You have know and try to foresee complications. You go and throw a nuclear plant and can''t safely and properly store waste, you''re gonna have women who can''t carry a baby to term, multiple birth defects, women who can''t have children at all, what will you then say to these families. Obama is simply saying "THINK" long and hard, have a real plan before you act. If you don''t think you''ll end up sounding like Sarah Palin, you don''t want that, do you?

After the widely not reported prank call on Sarah, where she demonstrates just how dumb she is, I take everything that comes out of her mouth as high-school he said (insert lie, twist, evade, misconstrue, blah blah blah)

Actually thats not true, I already felt that way but the prank call just solidified for me that this woman is beyond a disgrace and the kindest thing to do is ignore her.

Aworldaway - This is not from her mouth; it is from Obama''s directly. When he said during the debates he was for clean-coal technology and any type of technology, he failed to add the asterisk or footnote at the end of his statement: (but with the restrictions I plan to impose to make them "clean," you will not be able to build them anyway so I can say I am for them). Don''t be surprised about this stuff on Obama finally surfacing,
If he gets elected, all kinds of crapp about him will finally be let out by the Media that does everything to protect and promote him.

Also, if Obama gets elected, just watch how suddenly in November, how many stories you''ll hear from the media that the economy is better than we thought it was, and how it''s really improving.

It''s exactly what happened in November 1992 after Clinton/Algore got elected.

If Obama-Biden win the election the economy will go from bad to worse. I am not looking forward to freezing in my house in Winter because I can''t afford my heating bills or sitting in the dark because the coal plants are shut down, or walking 25 miles to see my doctor because gasoline is too scarce or expensive. What else is the news media hiding about the coming Obama-Biden nightmare?

It''s funny how Obama didn''t describe any type of transition plan or solution for clean coal during the interview.

The damage control spinmeisters aren''t offering an explanation either.

Obama only said that someone has to discover a way to burn coal without emitting carbon or coal companies will go bankrupt paying fines. I take it that this predicament applies to existing coal plants, not just new ventures.

Methinks Barry is busted. Let''s see how he squirms out of this tight spot. (Answer: With the help of MSM, as usual). What is it about SF, Barry?

The marxist wants to "fundamentally" change The United States. Now, think about it, to fundamentally change something you must believe that the thing you want to change is broken to the core or was never correct in the first place. He, and those like him, think that this nation was never correct in any matter.

In reality the media is exceding their contribution limitations to O_Bamas campaign by touring America with him! The same as they gave the insurgents the limelight in the heat of their battle against the United States (Soldiers) !!!! A vote for O_Bama is a vote for the changing of America from free democracy to socialized enslavement!!

Good news I think the people in Virginia, West Virginia and Ohio are waking up and realizing just how devastating obama is going to be for the American economy. A new poll out is showing McCain ahead in Virginia and less than a point in Ohio and West Virginia. Since all three of these are coal producing states I think this should help sink obama. Now watch obama''s play on words notice he will say he is for coal and he does not want any coal burning power plant to go bankrupt. But he is only talking about existing ones but he say in the interview is if you want to build one you are going to go bankrupt. This guy is going to bankrupt America. No coal, no offshore drilling, no drilling in Alaska, no nuclear, no new refineries. I hope you didn''t think $4.00 a gallon was to high because if obama gets elected we are in deep trouble.

John McCain is no George Bush but if they want to compare I will take four more years of Bush over four more years of Jimmy Carter

Anyways listen to the audio yourself and make up your own mind.

7 1/2 YEARS OF GEORGE BUSH vs. 2 OF A DEMOCRAT CONGRESS

Only George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine. A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) The DOW JONES hit a record high--14,000 +
5) American''s were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations overseas, living large!...

But American''s wanted ''CHANGE''! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress &
yes--we got ''CHANGE'' all right.
In the PAST YEAR:
1) Consumer confidence has plummeted;
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon &climbing!;
3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION DOLLARS & prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~ $2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS!

YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE...AND WE SURE GOT IT! ....REMEMBER THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.AND WHAT HAS CONGRESS DONE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS? EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO BRING DOWN THE ECONOMY AND WEAKEN AMERICA IN IRAQ%u2026ALL TO BENEFIT THEMSELVES IN THE 2008 ELECTION.

Not only will OBAMA bankrupt the coal industry, he will bankdrupt ALL OF US. He doesn''t want NUCLEAR POWER, OIL DRILLING, GAS PRODUCTION, COAL, or anything else. He wants us to JUST INFLATE OUR TIRES.......he wants to be able to MONITOR THE TEMPERATURE IN YOUR HOME AND IF YOU USE TOO MUCH ELECTRICITY HE WANTS TO BE ABLE TO CHARGE YOU MORE.
---in 1993 the Democrats tried to introduce a bill to get you to pay imputed income say your mortgage is $600. If your home could rent for $1300 a month, you have AN ADVANTAGE OVER a renter. Imputed income on the difference of $1300 and $600 means you would have to pay tax on $700 a month on IMPUTED INCOME you do NOT EVEN RECEIVE. Currently you can deduct your mortgage from your taxable income .. Point is you now have $15600 more TAXABLE INCOME.

Obama has no experience except his college credits.
He was schooled, personally, by men ALL with extreme left, if not COMMUNISTIC, leanings. "Leanings" is too kind refering to these people. One is a known bomber, one is an Arab extremist, one is a Marxist, one is a black Senator of Chicago politics, one is a "black theology" preacher etc., etc.

No one this guy, Obama, has known for more than 5 years is a NORMAL PERSON. Theu are ALL "out there" are far where the as American political mainstream resides.

All the articles you and I have ever read will never make up for electing a DISASTEROUS president in two days.

Neither McCain or Obama are my pick, really, it is again a pick to keep the worst person from winning. I''ll vote for McCain because after watching political parties and politicians for 45 years, I have plenty of experience with the Democratic Party. I was a Democrat for 14 years of voting age before they changed me to voting Republican. Of the two parties, the Democrats can be trusted LEAST.
Obama can be trusted even less than Democrats can normally be trusted...which is not at all.

Democrats got us into this mess with the environmental lobby. We are dedendent on foreign oil because of DEMOCRATS!

Democrats won''t allow nuclear power plants to be built any faster than they have been, which ONE NEW ONE every 10 years or so.

FL_Vet,

Please don''t plan on voting for McCain - he supports the same Cap & Trade plan on carbon emissions that Obama does. Dirty coal burning plants would have to buy more carbon credits than clean coal burning plants would. As the credits got more expensive over time, the out-moded energy providers (not the coal industry)would come under financial pressure. The coal industry could sell more than they do today, particluarly if they help energy providers develop carbon sequestration technology. You should know this (if you are in the coal industry - unless all you do is sell Kingsford Charcoal).

Can we all agree the mess we are in right now started with the housing market. Enough cards on this table have been turned over that the story is now clear. The economic history books will describe this episode in simple and understandable terms: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac exploded, and many bystanders were injured in the blast, some fatally.
Fannie and Freddie did this by becoming a key enabler of the mortgage crisis. They fueled Wall Street''s efforts to securitize subprime loans by becoming the primary customer of all AAA-rated subprime-mortgage pools. In addition, they held an enormous portfolio of mortgages themselves.
Well can you imagine if we were able to fix it four years ago. Take a look at the video and watch the dumbocrats and the republicans discussing Fannie and Freddie and tell me who is right and who is wrong. The worst thing is I was down in Miami last weekend and I got to listen to Air America and the liberals are talking about once Obama gets in office they are going to start the same garbage that got us in this mess.

Either way take a look at the dumbos and the republicans in their own words and make up your own mind.

Why does Obama distance himself from images of African Americans? Why doesn''t he talk about civil rights now that he has the nomination from the democrats?

Out of 95 TV ads on BarackObama.com How many do you think show African Americans who are not members of the Obama family? How many actually have black people who are allowed to talk? if you guessed 15-20? You would be way high. Even if you guessed 5-10 you would still be way off.

The answer is ONE! Yes I am not lying here. ONLY ONE Obama ad has non family members who are also black in them. In only ONE commercial does the Obama campaign allow an African American talk who is not a member of his family!.

In 84 of the commercials it seems as if Obama wants to make sure that white America does not see adult black middle class workers receiving benefit from his presidency.

Now in contrast there are 10 Spanish commercials that reach out to the Hispanic community! Obama ran commercials in support of the Hispanic community 5,000+!

The ONE commercial ran by Obama in support for the African American population was ran under 800 times!

Yet I see all the black entertainers rallying around this guy! WHY? He does not support them!

Obama does not want to help the plight of blacks. Obama wants to get the nod of approval from the socialist who have inspired him!

I outline this in a youtube video check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSO5gxmKl30

Will McCain will be allowed to be renamed "Bush" by one campaign if the media gave the number of major issues he had differed with Bush and whole context of his voting records, especially on major issues like ethanol, farm subsidy, etc?

I am also a Dem that fears an Obama presidency, not just due to his many comfortable relationships with radical marxist types like Rev Wright, but the American people have forgotton that he is also the "hand picked poster boy" for Farrakan and his family. After years of socializing with the Farrakan family, not just for church functions, but also Michelle Obama routinely spent many luncheon and hair salon dates with Mrs Farrakan enjoying the camraderie of like-thinking adults and basking in their obvious approval. Surely Americans do not believe these routine social outings were a result of "opposite" viewpoints.....have we all become deaf and dumb like the mice to a "Pied Piper?" Wake up people, he does not think like an American....why do you think he did not want to wear the lapel flag?
