Spreading It Around
Excerpts of a newly uncovered radio interview then-state senator Barack Obama did with a Chicago radio station in 2001 has made its way onto YouTube and also onto the Drudge Report. The portions of the interview put up seem to focus on the Supreme Court during the Civil Rights era.
“One of the I think the tragedies of the Civil Rights movement was because the Civil Rights movement became so court-focused I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change and in some ways we still suffer from that," Obama says in part of the interview posted.
In a statement sent out by the campaign today, John McCain’s senior policy adviser Doug Holtz-Eakin claims the interview is evidence that Obama would pursue “socialism” as president. "The American people continue to learn more about Barack Obama,” Holtz-Eakin said. “Now we know that the slogans 'change you can believe in' and 'change we need' are code words for Barack Obama's ultimate goal: 'redistributive change.' … No wonder he wants to appoint judges that legislate from the bench – as insurance in case a unified Democratic government under his control fails to meet his basic goal: taking money away from people who work for it and giving it to people who Barack Obama believes deserve it. Europeans call it socialism, Americans call it welfare, and Barack Obama calls it change.”

God help ALL of us!
This whole ''Joe the Plumber'', thing.
He asked a hypothetical question...
I might buy this business. IF I do and it does 260 or 280 thousand a year will you raise my taxes?
From there McCain jumps the string-
Obama WILL RAISE his taxes!!!
First off, IF the business DID 280k , Thats not Joe''s Salary. But for sake of arguement, lets say it is.
Obama says if you make over 250k your taxes will be higher. So 250 is the ''cutoff'' number. Joe makes 30 thou over. THAT 30 is taxed at 3% MORE-thats the increase!
Joe has lost more than THAT running around with his head up McCain''s a$$, by calling off work...
Come on, all you have to do is read OB''s book and turn to the page where he writes he is drawn to "Chicanos" and "Marxist leaning professors." Maybe I don''t know what a Marxist is, but apparently OB does. Nuff said. Then, in his own words, how he enjoyed attending socialist seminars while attending Occidental and Columbia. I don''t know exactly what is hidden, but it bothers me enough to try and fight this to the end. I say this with no bitterness or rancor towards you folks who back OB. I just don''t think we know who this man OB really is. Reminds me of the old story about the Texan who was all belt and hat but had no cattle.
I was not baiting you. Just telling it like it is.
Go vote for Barr... NOBAMA!
I''m not taking the bait!!!
Barr for president ;)
I agree, Obama has run a campaign of lies and deceit.
Everyone says things that may be taken out of context or misrepresented. Let''s get some old tapes of McCain backing Charles Keating. He already voted 90% with W. This campaign is reaching the low levels of politics that make the Jefferson-Adams election look like child''s play.
To go along with your message about the waiter...
Going to college, my daughter drank the Obama Kool-Aid. In a discussion we had last week, I brought it home in a way she understood. She prides herself on her grades. I told her to imagine that at the end of the term, the professor announces that there are 3 A%u2019s 3 B%u2019s 15 C%u2019s and 5 D%u2019s. Congratulations to the A%u2019s and B%u2019s but as the need to get more students into grad school, the A and B students grades would be reduced and the points given to the D%u2019s students so everyone in the class can get a C. I told her It sends the message to not work hard for what you get because if your average or below average you don%u2019t need to worry. The above average will take care of you. Problem is what is the motivation to work hard to earn a good grade? Same goes for the redistribution of wealth.
You can put Brylcreem on a Marxist, but he''s still a Marxist!

Now go out and stock up on your purple Kool-Aid before the rationing begins.
Perhaps that is Obama''s goal. What has come out since Joe the plumber started it all is the real agenda behind Obama%u2019s rhetoric. Up until now it has been hidden and not investigated by a media that is not doing its job.
%u201CToday on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed. Once in the restaurant I noticed that my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference -- just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I''ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more. I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application. Also, employers could announce the consideration of employee raises, then withhold those raises and give the proceeds to a worthy cause, preferably one involving non-workers ... PRICELESS
Try a thing called reporting and add context--giving us a link and a McCain statement fails that test.
McCain should be ashamed of himself! He either has no control over his people or is Complicit in the divisive fear tactics of his campaign. He is obviously unconcerned about what post election America will be like so long as he is leading the country.
McCain & Palin are the source of the worst fear monger, lies, misinformation, dumbing down of America and strait BS talk.
Do you know had oversight on the finance committees that over saw Fanny and Freddie?
Do you know who raised concerns about the lack of oversight of those two organizations?
Do you know who said that everything was fine, there is no problem with what is happening?
If you did, then you would know it has been the Democrats that have hosed everything up and blocked every attempt at a positive change. It was the Republicans who sounded the alarm only to be called racist or bigot for picking on the small guy.
I%u2019m afraid it%u2019s you who is the Moron%u2026.
You really struck the cord, and I am so glad that like the Holy Book, there are still prophets who have not bowed down to idol(hatred).
The way the campaign is going is just sad to see sarcasm and venom being poured into campaign and advert it will do the Americans no good in the long run.
Will the party that is running this negative ad and campaign if God willing they win call the other party to come and work with them after they have been cold blooded murdered in broad daylight it is so sad, so sad, so sad. The slogan or the pay off line is "GOD BLESS AMERICA", how can God bless America when those that suppose to work towards the building are busy tearing themselves down?
George W. Bush and Richard Cheney created the reason for their war on Saddam Hussein%u2019s Iraq. There were no Weapons of Mass Destruction and no delivery systems. The Republican Supporters fell in lock step with this illegal and immoral war for 7 years. The design for the Iraq war was never a victory but to divert our tax dollars to the private sector and to covet long term oil production agreements for private multinational corporations.
Why should Americans trust any Republican?
You had George "decider" Bush block every initiative of the Democratic Congress over the last 20 months, and the squawking PARROTs who regurgitate Rush and Hannity want to blame them for 8 YEAR OF REPUBLICAN/BUSH MISMANAGEMENT?
ROFLMAO
You morons keep regurgitating. To everyone else it smells like it comes out the other end.
It''s TIME TO END 8 YEARS OF REPUBLICAN MISMANAGEMENT (Plus all of the years sine 1980 of REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL GARBAGE).
ENOUGH!
Enough of Bush/McCain economics.
Enough tax breaks for the rich and crumbs for the rest of us.
Enough lies and mismanagement.
Enough of lobbyist-run campaigns and Presidencies.
Enough of McCain advisers complaining that Americans are "whiners".
Enough corporate welfare.
Enough of McCain-supported deregulation.
Enough tax breaks for Big Oil.
Enough of $10 BILLION a MONTH siphoned from our economy to pay for a war that is making us no safer.
Enough LIES and DISTORTIONS.
THROW THE DISHONORABLE BUMS OUT. No more neoCON Republicans driving our country down.
