McCain To Interrupt Debate Prep With Rally In N.M.

(CBS)
From CBS News' John Bentley:

(PHOENIX) – John McCain is back on the campaign trail today, after letting Sarah Palin go on the offensive this past weekend and attack Barack Obama, while he prepared from his home in Sedona, Ariz., for the debate tomorrow night.

McCain will make his first public appearance in three days at a town hall meeting in Albuquerque, N.M., this afternoon. That’s in sharp contrast to Obama, who has had multiple events in the swing states of Pennsylvania, Virginia, and North Carolina during that time.

The Republican ticket is trailing Obama and Joe Biden by five points in New Mexico, according to a recent poll by the Albuquerque Journal, but 14% of voters were undecided. George Bush barely won the state four years ago.

There are 29 days left until Election Day, and McCain campaign says they are not concerned the falling poll numbers.

"There's plenty of time yet. We have the opportunity and the resources to prevail,” said senior adviser Mark Salter.

“The environment has always been a challenge and I include the media double standard as an important part of the environment. But we're going to speak clearly about the candidate's real records, the reforms he can be counted on to make and the stakes in this election – in the debate, in speeches and on air."

"Sooner or later, people are going to figure out if all you run is negative attack ads you don''t have much of a vision for the future or you''re not ready to articulate it," McCain told PBS public television in February 2000.

Obama is an unknown, charismatic, stealth marxist,kool-aid vendor, who should inspire suspicion on the part of thinking people everywhere.

McCain has a known 30-plus year track record of doing the right thing when no-one''s looking, even when the right thing damages his own self-interest.
You Choose. WAKE UP, PEOPLE.

McCain and Palin have NO plan for the economy and NO plan to end this war in Iraq. I don''t want 4 more years of Bush and Cheney.

VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA AND LETS GET A DEMOCRAT WIN IN NOVEMBER!

Back to the multi million dollar ranch for damage control huh? Well , practice hard John. The harder you try the more votes the democrats get.
Why don''t you try practicing the truth and staying on the issues?
Or do the issues take a backseat to what Americans need?

obama is promising alot. over the years i have seen as many of us have these who talk and promise too much get in and cant change what they say would do. I listen to what isnt being said.big talkers are just what they are. obama has said some things plans to do and change and turned around and had to change his plans. as Biden stated on the debate. Its a big tale to say they will get guys home soon or say it will be done within a certain time. There is several on this decision. Palin would love to have her son home as well but the guys over there know they wont be home within six or twelve months. yes it would be wonderful but realality it wont be that soon. All this bashing Gov.Palin over this firing in alaska is just what it is.

Well, for all I care, we all saw McCain make a reckless VP pick that can potentially land an inept, poorly coached puppet at the helm of our country in a time of profound disarray; saw McCain pretentiously stop his convention to defend the country from a hurricane while his real intention was to keep GW in a bubble far away; saw him pretend to stop his campain and pose as savior of the economy while all he managed to do was postpone action. Why should I vote for McRollerCoaster? I want a steady hand at the helm. Someone that THINKS before acting. That persons is definitely NOT McCain.

Mr. McCain its time retire. You insulted two of the audience memebers and your continual comment of your record of reform Where are the results? Take out an ad amd list those accomplishments one by one. I respect your service for America and the time spent in a prision camp. You have proven you are a true patriot, however it seems to me time takes away a little of our soul each day and the past becomes more of a burden day after day. Perhaps your time for President has come and gone.
My concern is that a vote for you and Sarah Palin is a vote for World War Three. I fear that neither you or she has the finesse to deal with Americas problems at home and around the world. GOD BLESS AMERICA
