Palin Speech Scores Big Ratings

(ST. PAUL) Sarah Palin was unknown to the public just a week ago, but it's going to be hard to say that about her anymore. The ratings from her speech at the Republican National Convention are in, and it's now clear just how all the buzz about her translated big time into viewership for the Republican convention.

According to Nielsen, 37.2 million people watched the speech on six networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX News Channel, and MSNBC). That is just 1.1 million less than watched Obama's speech last Thursday night. Compare that to the estimated 24 million who watched Democratic VP nominee Joe Biden's speech last Wednesday night. You can also compare that to the about 34 million who watched the opening of the Beijing Olympics last month, 32 million who watched this year's Oscars and 31.7 million who watched last spring's American Idol finale.

According to Nielsen, Palin also attracted 19.5 million women, which is 4.9 million more than watched Biden. And 1.4 million Hispanic viewers watched, which is more than the 1.2 million who watched day 3 of the Democratic convention, even though Univision and Telemundo did not carry Palin's speech last night. In fact, it's also of note that Palin's speech was carried by four less networks than Obama's speech (BET and TV One also showed Obama).

Palin has certainly gotten people's attention now. Now the question is whether that will translate into votes for the Republican ticket.

Maybe someone needs to remind Sarah Palin that Jesus Christ was a community organizer, and Pontius Pilate was a governor.

Sarahcuda Palin is from a small town Wasilla AK. She has stepped on a lot of toes in her rush for power and control. The tabloids aren%u2019t the only one%u2019s looking under every stone in that small town and on the State level. Everyone has a story I%u2019m sure, and I believe we%u2019ve only scratched the surface on the corruption and immoral antics of the wicked witch of the north!

The market dramatically dropped the morning after Sarah Palin''s recitation of bumper stickers which....somehow.....people mistook for a speech. She would have received a "F" in my speech class. No backup to her remarks....no documentation.....no supporting statements. What is America thinking? That was not a speech....IT WAS STAND-UP HYPERBOLE (overstatements re: her experience).

"High prices for GASOLINE, which teh 9% approval rating dem controlled congress refuses to do anything about."

Acutally, the Congress presented several motions to relieve the right wing agenda to promote higher fuel costs and boost Oil Company Profits (in record amounts).

Bills that would have Oil Companies commence production on already approved drilling sites domestically or risk losing those Oil and Mineral Rights, and the rescind of the Enron Loop Hole that was fostered by John McCain%u2019s Economic Advisor Phil Gramm were both thwarted by the REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS again.

The Republican don%u2019t want to force Oil Companies to drill, instead the desire more leases in offshore and environmentally protected areas, that Oil Companies will probably hold onto in the same manner to drive the price of Oil higher then sell our domestic Oil to the Communist Chinese in 10 or 12 years.

Vote for a real Energy Program, not more Enron Scams from the Republican Oil Party!

Unfair Taxation of the Middle Class.
High prices for GASOLINE, which teh 9% approval rating dem controlled congress refuses to do anything about.
High Medical Costs and Prescription Drugs. Because the current system is corrupt and flawed.
Disregard for our Constitution.Obama is a idealistic socialist. Big government, less choices for citizens, and equal distribution of wealth.
Corruption, Corruption, Corruption. On BOTH sides of aisle
Religious Hypocrisy-Obama can''t decide if he''s muslim or christian either way he hates white american thanks Rev. Wright.

What I especially enjoyed was the blatant hypocrisy and stupidity of the GOP.

Buttons brazenly worn proclaiming "our VP is HOT" and then they turn around and accuse the Dems of sexism!

and that Drill baby Drill! Got Global Warming anyone.

And the Repubs moral values - oh yeah - if they win we''ll have God in the Whitehouse.

when in the White House, she will be the Voice of God. God wants us to be in Iraq. God wants us to drill. Her church, Assemblies of God Church believes in mixing Church and State and believes that the President is a representative (the voice) of God, they want to overturn Democracy and replace it with a Theocacy.

Of course, this means Their God, not Your God.
Sara Palin says God wants the Iraq war, and God wants to drill, baby drill.

Is this the Change you are envisioning? If so, Vote McInsane

Why don''t you dems ever talk about the FACT that you control the House and Senate and the House has a approval rating of 9%! You bash and blame Bush for EVERYTHING. Its a fact that you Dems add pork barrels and earmarks to every *** bill that crosses his desk, when he vetoes it you slam him for stopping legislation but in fact he''s try to cut down spending.

Meanwhile you try to tell the Amercian people that putting one of, if not THE MOST inexperienced nominee for President of the United States, well besides Jimmy "inept" Carter who we all know what a disaster he was (thanks dems), but you think you can tell us that with on the job training he can get a do nothing senate and congress to "change".
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh wait...you''re serious???

"Just for the record: In 1985, Sarah Palin was a heartbeat away from being Miss Alaska, a contest in which she finished second. In 1985, Barack Obama was working on jobs programs, fighting for tenant''''s rights and tutoring Chicago kids to help them get into college. I think it''''s shameful that no one in the media takes even a second to point out this contrast. By the way, this segment was so disjointed and rambling, I''''m surprised you would even stream it."

PS: It looks like Republican "strategists" think it''s OK to trash college professors now, since they comprise such a small percentage of the electorate.
